What is the best way to get an insurance quote on the internet without having to put down a ton of personal information Oppo? I would like to see projected insurance costs on a couple different cars.

Enjoy the Packard for your time.

But isn't that how car insurance quotes work, they need all that info to be able to give you anything like a realistic quote!

Of course they do, how else are they going to bombard with emails and check to see if you are going to take up their low low offer!! ;)

I know one! Just give me your name, age, address, social security number, and your income.

I tend to use the names of dead rockstars for insurance quotes when I’m just speculating. And an old email I stopped using years ago.

Elvis isn’t dead, he just wants to insure his WRX.

I don’t think there is a good way to get an insurance quote via the web. It’s better to call and speak with an agent, that way you can ask questions, and your information has a better chance of staying private.

Your own insurance company should be able to quote adding/replacing a car on your policy. I know with Progressive I can add/replace cars for quotes without actually impacting my insurance policy, and do so all the time.

The only accurate way is to call your current agent and literally give him/her every VIN you’re considering. Otherwise they can just ballpark it.

And if you don’t have an agent (or if you’re shopping for a new one), basically you have to give all your info away and get ready to be bombarded with calls and emails. PITA.

I usually just shoot my current agent an email and say quote me on such and such car when you have time, since it’s usually me scheming and not immediately about to purchase a car. He’s never had a problem with it. I’ve only done it twice or so though. I give them a few hundred dollars every month for home and car insurance, so bothering them for a 5 minute quote shouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience. The caveat here is that I am almost certain my agent is giving me among the best rates in my area, when I compare against my peers' rates.

all web forms are designed to check for specific characters (I know having built them before)

an email form field requires text then an @ sign then text a period and text.

test@test.com or even a@a.a technically would work.

Phone number fields require 10 digits or 10 digits with dashes. you can always put in 1234567890 I used to use that and test@test.com for form field tests because I could always figure out which one was a test and filter it out of the form submissions.
